Finally relaxation

After our visit to the surgeon's office we finished up our work week and headed off to Esperance.  On the map Esperance appears to be a larger town/city.  However, we arrived and found it to have about 9,000 residents.  Its about Gladstone size.  The port where our iron ore is shipped from is there, so we went on a tour of the port operations.  It was quite interesting.

We arrived Thursday night and headed out to Cape LeGrande National Park, which was right on the Southern Ocean (never heard of this ocean until we came here) .  We camped there and awoke to a windy, foggy day.  It all cleared up when we arrived back in town.  We met up with some folks from the company to help out at "the Esperance Show".  A show is like a fair or carnival is in the states.  However, it was a small ordeal, and yes from our photos (for those that viewed them) the lamb van was there.  It was quite the exciting experience, let me tell you.  The next two nights were spent in the Best Western, it was like a scene from 1970 itself, but it wasn't a tent, so I cannot complain.  We did head back to Cape LeGrande to check out the place, it is the first national park I have actually liked, mainly because there was something worth protecting.  The beaches were amazing, and there was the scene from Dr. Seuss's books, mainly the peak in the Grinch where all the who's live.  It was called Frenchman's Peak.  It was a nice hike.  The beaches themselves were worth the drive (it was about 6 hours south and east of Kooly). Anyway, Sunday we left and headed to the Stirling Range, climbed Bluff's Knoll, made it down realized we were in the middle of nowhere and headed back to Perth.  2300Km from Perth to work to Esperance to the Stirling Range and back to Perth.  On the map it really looked like we hadn't really gone that far, in fact, it looks like a day trip.  Do not be fooled its a lot of driving and a lot of nothing in between places.  Oh, but there was one amazing stop in there, thank goodness Joe made that wrong turn or we never would have seen...(suspense) "The Giant Ram"  it was in a town called Wagin.  Yes a giant ram, you have to believe me this was on the map as something you "had to see".  I have photos, it was quite ridiculous, but then again there I was taking the opportunity to take the photo.  We didn't go as far as getting out of the car, I made Joe pull over just enough so that my picture wouldn't be a blur!

As for our five days off this time, it was all about relaxation.  We don't have a whole lot to report on.  The red bull air race was on, but we got bored after watching 2 planes run the course.  Don't get me wrong, it was cool, but it was hot and they all did the same thing.  I will post pictures when I get to work. Spent some time with friends, Joe bought a sombrero for our Mexican fiesta.  Otherwise nadda.  Take care!
